Nominate a leader in your association for the Total Hockey Volunteer of the Month

Every year volunteers selflessly dedicate their time and energy to ensure the success of our community-based youth hockey associations. Ice Scheduler, Team Manager, Tournament Director, Recruiting Chairperson….the list is endless! Join us in acknowledging their efforts by nominating a local volunteer for the Total Hockey Volunteer of the Month.

"Minnesota's community-based hockey succeeds because of its passionate volunteers,” says Katy Benoit of Total Hockey.  “We honor those volunteers who are role models for our kids; working tirelessly to give them the tools to be the best on the ice and in their community. Thank you!”

Last year, Minnesota Hockey and Total Hockey recognized four volunteers from communities around Minnesota that were making a special impact on their youth hockey associations.

  • Alan Lepp of Perham Area Youth Hockey Association (PAYHA) was recognized for his role in the recruiting and retention activities with PAYHA.
  • Lisa Mackeben of Champlin Park Youth Hockey Association (CPYHA) received the Volunteer of the Month award in recognition of her implementation of various off-ice initiatives for CPYHA.
  • Shane Peterson of Inver Grove Heights Hockey Association (IGHHA) was honored with this award after serving in four roles on the IGHHA board over a five year span.
  • Carlena Weiland of St. Michael-Albertville Youth Hockey Association (STMAYHA) was acknowledged as a Total Hockey Volunteer of the Month for her support of girls’ hockey.

Do you know someone in your association that deserves to be recognized as the Total Hockey Volunteer of the Month? We bet you do! Now, all you have to do is fill out an application to nominate him or her.

Each Volunteer of the Month will be featured in the Minnesota Hockey Newsletter, Let’s Play Hockey, and on the Minnesota Hockey website. That volunteer will also receive a $50 Total Hockey gift card in recognition of their hard work. In addition, five sets of starter hockey gear will be contributed in his/her name to their association, courtesy of Total Hockey.
