Minnesota Hockey joins the entire hockey community in expressing our extreme sympathy to the family of Adam Johnson. We offer our condolences to the family, loved ones and friends of Adam. In sharing the pain of his loss with his loved ones, we can try to find solace in the memories of Adam on the ice and off. He was and will continue to be a source of inspiration to many young players.

The safety of all players is of the utmost importance to all those involved with Minnesota Hockey. Minnesota Hockey, along with its partners, strives to and will continue to review all aspects of the game to improve player safety. At this time, Minnesota Hockey will continue to follow the recommendations of USA Hockey. Studies performed by USA Hockey in conjunction with its advisors in the medical field have concluded to recommend but not mandate the use of neck laceration equipment. We encourage parents and players to determine for themselves what is best for the player in this regard. Should more studies make it apparent to mandate this equipment, Minnesota Hockey will take appropriate action.
